Confession: Botox wasn't exactly my forte. So, when my UC Berkeley Bootcamp team landed the Belle Doctrine website redesign project, a solo esthetician specializing in facial treatments, I admit, I wasn't jumping for joy. But as I delved deeper, something shifted. This wasn't just about aesthetics, human connection, user-centricity, and personal growth.
Fueled by a desire to understand the needs of a small business owner and her clients, I embarked on a research odyssey. Competitor analysis, SEO optimization, and in-depth client interviews became my tools, uncovering a world of desires, anxieties, and aspirations hidden beneath the surface of Botox brochures. This research became the bedrock of our strategy, informing the website's information architecture, content, and user experience.
My teammates, masters of user empathy, conducted insightful interviews and held rigorous usability tests, polishing the design and validating our every decision. Meanwhile, I channeled my passion for technology and user-friendliness, transforming Belle Doctrine's online presence from a static brochure into a dynamic hub of information, engagement, and trust. Built on the Wix platform, the website became a testament to our collaboration – a seamless blend of beauty and functionality crafted to empower Belle Doctrine and its clients.

Women aged 35-50 considering Botox treatments often struggle to find accurate and comprehensive information online, leading to confusion and hesitation when making a decision. This can result in lost conversions for the Belle Doctrine.
UX Hypothesis:
Will providing dedicated Botox pages with detailed information, patient testimonials, and high-quality photos increase the booking conversion rate compared to the current single-page format? We believe that addressing users' specific needs for information and building trust will lead to a more confident decision and higher conversion rate.
Uncertainty can cloud the journey to achieving users' desired look for those considering beauty enhancements. Scouring fragmented information and juggling confusing options can be overwhelming, leaving users eager and confident.

Unveiling Confidence: User Gateway to Radiant Beauty with Belle Doctrine's New Website
The success of any website hinges on its ability to meet users' needs seamlessly. To ensure Belle Doctrine's new website truly empowered confident beauty decisions, we conducted rigorous user testing at every stage of development.
Mid-Fidelity Prototype:
Five users tackled three crucial tasks: finding the Botox service page, exploring client reviews, and booking an appointment. This initial test revealed valuable insights, guiding us to refine the information architecture and booking flow for optimal clarity and ease of use.
High-Fidelity Prototype:
With the Wix website taking shape, we revisited the same tasks with five new users. Additionally, we focused on assessing the website's "doctor credibility." The results were precise: 93% of users in our A/B test preferred the design option featuring Dr. Doctrine's image, citing increased trust and transparency. This feedback underscored the importance of showcasing her expertise and fostering a personal connection.
Design Credibility Test:
To further validate the website's overall design, we presented the Botox page to 17 users for five seconds and asked them to identify its purpose. 100% accurately identified it as a beauty treatment website. This confirmed that our design effectively communicated the website's core offering at a glance.

These tests weren't just about checking boxes and understanding users' motivations and anxieties. By incorporating their feedback at every step, we built a website that provided the information they craved and instilled confidence in their beauty journey.
